MET/CAL® procedures are especially important for multimeters which cannot be returned to the factory for recalibration or adjustment. For economic and political reasons, this applies to multimeters which have been exported – and for technical reasons it also applies to multimeters which are used in systems from which they can no longer be removed, e.g. in the fields of nuclear technology and mining. Furthermore, frequently only calibration (and not adjustment) conducted by an accredited laboratory in the export country is recognized.
